About UpAssist

The person behind the code.

One specialist. Deep expertise. No layers between us.

HH
Henjo Hoeksma
Based in the Netherlands
10+ years focused on Neos CMS and Flow Framework — this is where most of my time and attention goes. Not a generalist who picked up Neos for one project, but someone who chose to build a practice around it. The depth shows up in the questions I ask before writing code.

Early experimenter with AI-assisted development.
Integrating it into my workflow as soon as it became useful.
Built neos-mcp — a Model Context Protocol bridge for Neos — because I needed one in my own work and nothing comparable existed at the time.

I value long-lasting client relationships whether this for one or multiple projects.
The joy in this work, for me, is helping other persons or teams move their projects one or more steps forward.

Solo by design — not a stepping stone to an agency. The work that arrives here stays with the same person from the first conversation through ongoing maintenance.
Philosophy

How I think about the work.

"Craft over volume."

One focused specialist outperforms a team of generalists when the domain is narrow and deep — and Neos is that domain. The goal isn't to ship fast for its own sake; it's to ship something that works, iterate where it's needed, and leave things better than I found them.

"Open source as practice."

10+ packages aren't a portfolio flex. They're the result of solving real problems and deciding to share the solution properly — documented, maintained, and useful to the next person who runs into the same wall.

"AI as amplifier."

Not replacing the engineer — raising the ceiling of what one engineer can deliver. Used well, AI handles the repetitive, freeing up attention for the reasoning and judgment that actually matter on hard problems.
